IPI intelligent transformer substations by Ingenieurbüro Pfeffer

IPI intelligent transformer substationsThe engineering office Pfeffer relies on a tested lightning and surge protection concept by DEHN to ensure both system and operational reliability and fulfill the requirements laid down, for example, in the standard IEC 60364-4-44.

Pfeffer pays special attention to quality products, developed and manufactured in Germany which

  • can be included in the control system
  • have a laboratory-tested protective effect
  • have VDE certification

Telecontrol solutions | IDS

Anwendung bei IDSIDS rely on the tested lightning and surge protection concepts by DEHN to avoid expensive maintenance and repair work, to ensure functionality and reliable supply and to fulfill the requirements laid down in the German standard DIN VDE 0100- 443 for new buildings. Depending on the system constellation, all interfaces which are in danger of being damaged by surge impulses, inductive or capacitive, are protected using high-quality and high-performance surge arresters by DEHN. This not only applies to the power supply but also the coaxial interfaces leading to external antennas.

ABL AnwendungABL

The charging poles eMC2 and eMC3 being installed on most different sites of various risk potentials, a universal solution is needed which provides a reliable lightning and surge protection everywhere. In this case ABL relies on the compact and space saving Type 1 combined arrester DEHNshield. It is a spark-gap-based device featuring the wave breaker function. Due to the reduction of the lightning impulse current energy even the most sensitive electronic components in the charging poles are not damaged. Thus a real protection of the terminal equipment is achieved, both for the charging pole and the vehicle!

Bender GmbH & Co. KGbender

In addition to the protection components which are already used in a switchgear assembly, additional surge protection components from DEHN are specifically used for the digital measuring devices. In this context, all injection paths are protected by surge arresters for power supply systems and for information and communication systems: BLITZDUCTOR® or DEHNpatch arresters are used depending on the communication standard used. To round off the protection concept, the supply voltage is protected by DEHNrail surge arresters.

Condensator Dominit GmbHCondensator Dominit GmbH

Condensator Dominit uses a series transformer in connection with adequate power electronics for its active voltage restorer which exactly maintains the output voltage at 400 V with minimal loss while maintaining the short-circuit power (independent of the load and the supply voltage). Consequently, the loads of the customer are protected from both voltage dips and grid-side overvoltage. To additionally protect these loads from voltage dips caused by external switching operations or lightning effects, Condensator Dominit GmbH decided to use modular DEHNventil combined arresters for protecting power supply systems and DEHNpatch arresters for protecting telecommunication and data networks. This allows Condensator Dominit to provide complete all-round protection for its end customers’ installations.

G. Klampfer Elektroanlagen GmbHG. Klampfer Elektroanlagen GmbH

To meet these demanding challenges in different projects, Klampfer relies on the DEHNshort arc fault protection system which is optimised for low-voltage switchgear assemblies. It consists of fibre optic light sensors which detect the arc fault, modular detection devices which process the signals and quenching devices which quickly and reliably quench the arc fault. These quenching devices are directly supplied by the busbar – Therefore only a single connection is required per quenching device. Arc faults are detected as they develop and are quenched - The typical arc fault quenching time is only two to three milliseconds. The efficient protection concept allows the relevant switchgear assembly to be quickly recommissioned. Consequently, long downtime and the associated follow-up costs can be minimised.

VARTA Storage GmbH

VARTA Storage GmbHTo protect the core components of the battery storage system, for example the grid connection, power electronics, module racks and communication infrastructure, VARTA Storage relies on lightning and surge protection from DEHN. This is on the one hand implemented by powerful DEHNventil lightning current and surge arresters for power supply systems and, on the other hand, by arresters which are tailored to wireless applications for coaxial device and antenna interfaces and two-wire telecommunication and signal lines (e.g. SDSL), for example DEHNgate, BLITZDUCTOR XT and DEHNrapid LSA.

DEHN products installed in telecontrol solutions

WAGO offers measuring, control and telecontrol systems protected with DEHN surge protective devices in a single solution. This innovative system allows network analysis, integration of electronic meters, short-circuit indicators and communication devices in intelligent substations. As an international provider of connection and automation systems, WAGO sets standards for power generation and distribution with its new product ideas.

To ensure the system availability required in these markets, the WAGO telecontrol solution is protected against surges by DEHN arresters. To this end, surge arresters for power supply systems and arresters which are specifically tailored to wireless applications for device and antenna interfaces are used.

Protection concepts for longitudinal voltage regulatorseberle

The goal of the company A. Eberle GmbH & Co. KG is to provide measuring, control and registration solutions for transformers and Petersen coils. To this end, A. Eberle relies on lightning and surge protection from DEHN.

A. Eberle developed the low-voltage regulation system LVRSysTM as a cost-effective alternative to grid expansion. It can be economically used in low-voltage systems where the short-circuit power is sufficient, but where there are voltage stability problems. The systems are exposed to direct lightning strikes to the overhead line. To protect the sensitive semiconductor, A. Eberle uses lightning current and surge arresters from DEHN.

DEHN surge protection for LED street lightsSolution for LED street lights - Langmatz

The Langmatz fuse box EK480 with integrated surge protective devices from DEHN is used in LED street light masts. Thus, luminaires with high-quality electronic systems can be effectively protected against surges caused by switching operations or nearby lightning strikes. The two-pole DEHNcord surge protective device with monitoring system and disconnector is integrated in these fuse boxes. DEHNcord stands out due to its compact design and space-saving installation.
